A viral infection usually presents as a multisystem
involvement in the sense the child will have a runny nose, congected
eyes, bodyache, myalgias, diarrhea and cough or cold in addition
to fever. A bacterial infection is more localised so that the child
may come with pneumonia or a ear infection, urinary infection or
any other infection related to a particular organ of the body. The
fever would usually be high and associated with sweating.
