Since in malaria, the anemia is due to hemolysis that occurs within the body, the iron that is released from the RBCs is stored within the tissues. Thus when new RBCs are formed, this iron store is reused. Hence iron supplementation is not required. 2. Dose of TIG in tetanus neonatorum is 500 U IM. In older children and adults, dose is 1500-3000 U IM. 3. Antisnake venom needs to be given as soon as the patient has had a snake bite and not after symptoms develop. Anti-venom acts only against circulating toxin, not toxin fixed to tissue. In case of neuro toxic signs and symptoms, atropine followed by neostigmine intravenously should be given to reverse muscle paralysis.
