Question
We had a 2 month otherwise healthy male baby, who developed seizures after 2 hrs of DTPw.It took 10 days & 3 anti convulsants to control the seizures.Crude metabolic work out did not help us.Should we all together avoid pertussis componet( w or a) on the next sheduled day of DPT Vac OR adm. DTaP.

Answer
Thw whole cell component of diphtheria vaccine should be avoided. Acellular vaccine may also be avoided since the child had seizures within 2 hours of DPT.
