I have 2 queries 1)Till what age can a repeat BCG be given( after doing a Mantoux) if the child does not develop a scar from the previous BCG vaccine? 2)What would be the site for DPT second booster for a 5 yr old,Anteriolateral aspectt af thigh or Deltoid? Thanks in advance, Regards, Dr. Arshi.

Answer
BCG may be given till 5 years of age if Mantoux is negative in a child staying in an endemic area. However if the child is from a non-endemic area, it can even be given in an older child as he may still not have been infected by the tuberculous bacillus.

For second booster of DPT, either the deltoid or anterolateral aspect of thigh can be used.
