Question |
My 14 m girl has relapse of UTI with E.coli & klebsiella under prophylaxy with Cephalexin. Sonographic and conventional VCUG study was normal except Cystitist. her BW is 9 kg .Her bith W was 3160 g . she can not tolerate nitrofurantoin. Would You please consult me , how I can treat her UTI. Many Thanks R. Bekhradi, GP

Two infections in a culture report may suggest false reports or contamination. Confirm the culture by a properly collected urine sample. Also try and get the colony count and the sensitivity pattern. A colony count of more than 100000 on a clean catch mid stream sample is significant. A colony count less than that may not warrant infection.
