Respected Sir/ Madam, i have certain queries regarding falciparum malaria trealment. 1. whether quinnie should be the 1st drug or artimisinin in complicated malaria . which is the best artemisinin agent in pediatric age group . 2.what is the role of alpha, beta, arteether in pediatric practice. 3.what is the duration of therapy, whether for three days or five days. 4.should it be given alone or in combination with other agents.

As per CDC guidelines, quinine is the drug of choice in severe malaria along with Doxycycline, Tetracycline, or Clindamycin. Artemether is still not FDA approved. However several studies have found that artemether is as effective as quinine in the management of severe malaria in children.
