In chronic hepatitis , persistent increase in liver enzymes like S.G.O.T., S.G.P.T. & G.G.T.P., with normal or marginally elevated bilirubin are seen. Low protein, high globulin, slightly raised cholesterol are characteristic. G. G. T. P. is sensitive in detecting chronic hepatitis. Serological tests for detecting hepatitis A & Hepatitis B virus markers are available and are recommended.
