PATTERN OF INFECTIVE HEPATITIS (VIRAL)
Moderate increase in bilirubin (conjugated), with marked elevation of S.G.O.T., S.G.P.T. & L.D.H.(Liver isoenzyme) are noted in viral hepatitis. Low Na+ & Cl are seen due to vomiting. Marginal elevation of alkaline phosphatase is seen due to compression of intrahepatic biliary canaliculi by swollen parenchymatous cells. G. G. T. P. is not a very sensitive test for viral hepatitis. Triglycerides & cholesterol may be temporarily and marginally lowered.
