ABSTRACT:
|
Purpose: To improve Fine Motor Skills, Activities of Daily Living, Playfullness and Play history in children with Spastic Diplegia.
|
Methodology:
A set of five traditional games were selected. These games were administered to a group of 25 spastic children (5-7 years), with average intelligence to understand, follow instructions and play.
Children with proper sitting balance, bilateral upper limb integration and hand function good enough to play games were selected.

At the end of three months intervention, the children were evaluated for play history, playfullness, fine motor skills using Bennet Hand tool dexterity test and for activities of daily living using Wee FIM.

Result: Statistically significant results were seen in:
- Play history Activities of Daily Living Fine motor skills
- Playfullness
|
Conclusion: Interactive indigenous Indian Games such as these are easily understood by both parents and child, so provides higher psychological expression and finer motor function. They are cost effective, increase family participation and administered with simplicity. These games can be incorporated in holistic rehabilitation of Spastic children. This type of native therapy helps the child towards achieving activities like combing, feeding, bathing, toilet activities and dressing.
