Thrombocytopenia associated with genetic and congenital abnormalities :

Thrombocytopenia due to decreased platelet production is usually associated with other congenital abnormalities or evidence of systemic disease.

Genetic causes of thrombocytopenia in neonates (17) :-

Familial thrombocytopenias:-
  • Bernard Soulier syndrome
  • May-Hogglin anomaly
  • Paris-Trousseau thrombocytopenia
  • X-linked recessive thrombocytopenia
Chromosomal anomalies :- Associated with genetic disorders :-
  • Wiskott-Aldrich syndrome (WAS)
  • Noonan syndrome
  • Alpert's syndrome
Inherited metabolic disorders :-
  • Methylmalonic acidemia
  • Ketotic glycinemia
  • Isovaleric acidemia
  • Holocarboxylase synthetase deficiency
