Few cases of adverse reactions of artificial colours
"Erythrosine used in oral preparations is found to act as potent inhibitor of dopamine uptake at nerve endings and this may lead to child hyperactivity."20

"8.5-year-old girl with oro-facial granulomatosis associated with clinical atopy, in whom relapse of her granulomatous disorder was due to exposure to specific food additives, viz. carmoisine, sunset yellow and monosodium glutamate."21

"5-year-old girl was suffering from recurrent generalized urticaria, angioedema, dyspnea, nausea, headache, a slight fever, abdominal cramps, and loss of consciousness, and were not eradicated, but were instead exacerbated, by various treatments with antihistamines and intravenous corticosteroids. She was admitted to hospital for urgent care and hydration. Her symptoms gradually improved. Consequently, the diet revealed that she developed immediately after ingestion of sweets containing vivid colouring agents, such as azo dyes found to contain Tartrazine and Brilliant blue1".22

We come to this conclusion that change in drug therapy is not a solution towards prevention of such hazardous effects but the usage of artificial excipients (colours and flavours) should be prohibited. Hence continue the same drug therapy (and not the brand with artificial excipients) by considering the correlation of artificial excipients and such hazardous effects.
