MYTHS AND MISCONCEPTIONS OF BABY MASSAGE AND INFANT MASSAGE
Wrong Notions
  • An age old belief is that vigorous stroking of face especially the nose during massage can change the facial features. This notion is a false notion as facial features depend on genetic inheritance and no amount of pressure can modify that. In fact, it will only lead to trauma and risk of injury to the baby.

  • Massage can only be given by dais. This is again a false notion as mothers are more apt to give massage as they can determine how much pressure to use in the baby. Most dais apply lot of pressure while massage and this leads to a "crying session" rather than an enjoyable massage experience for the baby.
