what is the role of mannitol in severe birth asphyxia?

Answer
Mannitol is not a regularly recommended drug for birth asphyxia. There is insufficienct data to use it in birth asphyxia. However it has been tried in severe raised ICT with bulging anterior fontanelle and seizures provided there is no electrolyte imbalance and no oligura.
