how useful is i.v Magnesium sulphate in treating neonatal asphxia?What is the dosage& dilution to be given?

Answer
In a study by Ichiba H et al postnatal MgSO infusion was found to improve short-term outcome in infants with severe birth asphyxia. Dose recommended is 250 mg/kg per day for 3 days. However, whether it actually affects the long term outcome needs further evaluation.
