Question
What is the use of Spirometer in Pediatric Patients other than using for diagnosis and prognosis of Asthma?
Answer
Spirometer is useful to distinguish between restrictive and obstructive lung disease.
The indications for spirometry include the need to detect the presence or absence of lung dysfunction, to quantify the severity of known lung disease, assess the change in lung function over time or following administration of or change in therapy and to assess the risk for surgical procedures (such as lobectomy) known to affect lung function.
