Question
SIR, my son ,7 years old, is asthmatic. He is on inhaled fluticason {100} by discus, twice per day. On missing the dose, it leads to an attack.he was classified as moderate persistent asthma. I want to know for how long will he need to use this drug? He washes his mouth after each inhalation. I want to know what is the effect of this drug on his teeth? I noticed one permanent tooth is not fixed and it moves in its place. Do I need to give him calcium? Thank you.
Answer
Your doctor will be the best guide to decide how long the medicine needs to be given. Since stopping the inhaler leads to symptoms, it is quite unlikely that the medicine may be stopped now.

Precaution is to rinse the mouth properly after the inhaler as deposition of the medicine in the mouth can lead to fungal infection.

The inhaler should not lead to dental problems.
