Question
1. How to detect anemia in a case of congenital cyanotic heart disease, with secondary erytrocytosis. 2. Is there any range of baseline roomair saturation in case of cyanotic heart disease patients?
Answer
Look at the RBC indices for microcytosis and hypochromia. One can confirm by doing serum iron studies. For cyanotic heart disease patients with clinical cyanosis the saturation is usually less than 90%.
