Question
I have a patient 10 years old female with small VSD (4mm) but who is otherwise healthy .your advice to follow her. Thanks.
Answer
Type of VSD/Gradient /Any Regurgitation/? Asymptomatic On medications details????

Small Perimembranous VSD - Both abroad & in India the general consensus is wait and defer surgery/ intervention. Close monitoring essential for aortic valve prolapse, RV infundibular obstruction and parents emphasised the need for infective endocarditis prophylaxis( all of which would be an indication for semi elective closure )

Of late - device closure is being attempted for closure of PM VSD with fairly good results , but is restricted to those with a good rim from the AV Valves/ muscular VSD ( Echocardiographic specifications)
