Question
Most often we come across pediatric patient who pass stools 4-5 times a /day immediately after meals. There is no history suggestive of any infective or GI etiology. Is IBS(irritable bowel syndrome) is prevalent in them? what should be given?
Answer
This may be due to the gastro-colic reflex. Till the child is putting on weight and is otherwise normal, one needs to only reassure the parents.
