Sir, How to prescribe a weight based dose for drugs like cetrizine,levocetrizine, Loperamide and what is the minimum age below which these drugs should not be given?
Answer
Loperamide is not recommended in children less than 2 years of age. Dosage is 1 mg/10 kg body weight.

cetirizine should not be administered to children under 12 years of age since its safety and effectiveness in this age group has not yet been established. Dose is 5 to 10 mg.

Levocetrizine is 0.125 mg/kg twice a day for children above 1 year of age.
