Answer |
1. Ceftriaxone has got a good result in enteric fever. There are no studies to determine whether sublactum combination is better for typhoid. 2. Mosapride has not been approved for use in children. 3. Read the article on "Iron Formulations in Pediatric Practice" in Indian Pediatrics : August 2004. 4. The treatment of Enteric fever with one of the third generation Cephalosporins like Ceftriaxone or Cefotaxime should last for a minimum of 12 to 14 days if one is to avoid relapses. Quinolones are preferred as oral preparations. However they have to be used with caution in children. Cefixime has been used for treatment of typhoid in children. However more studies are required before it is recommended as a standard therapy for typhoid.
