Question
What is the actual dose and duration of levofloxacin tablets for the treatment of tuberculosis of spine? Q 2) after reconstitution of linezolide dry syrup for pediatric use, can it will be stable for use within three to four days. While linezolide in i.v form is suggested to use within 24 hrs. Please send your opinion. With thanks YP.
Answer
Dose of levofloaxin is 7.5-10mg/kg/day. Treatment duration depends on the extent of the disease, but in most cases will be 12 months or more and should be with at least 4 drugs to which the child is sensitive.

Intravenous doses of linezolid should be administered over 30 minutes to 2 hours. Oral doses of linezolid may be taken with or without food. The oral suspension should be stored at room temperature and may be used for up to 3 weeks after reconstitution. The suspension dosage formulation contains 20mg phenylalanine per teaspoon.
