Question |
what is the dose of steroids in septic shock? is it 10mg/kg or more than that? do we also add fludrocortisone along with hydrocortisone for better effects in managing the shock??

Answer |
Administration of steroids (eg, methylprednisolone, hydrocortisone, dexamethasone) has theoretical benefits in the setting of severe sepsis by inhibiting the massive inflammatory cascade that is unleashed. Thus more anti-inflammatory action is required as compared to mineralocorticoid action. Choice is between hydrocortisone 2mg/kg/dose or dexamethasone 0.1mg/kg/dose
