I have seen that patients are in habit of misusing nimesulide.And if the patient is seen after two to three days after receiving the doses of nimesulide there is periorbital swelling.Can it be some water retention or some nephrotoxicity? I have even seen generalized edema in patients on receiving nimesulide,especially if co-prescribed with cefadroxil.
Answer
Nimesulide is known to cause both hepatotoxicity and renal toxicity. Since you have seen these adverse effects why don't you report it in our ADRIS (ADVERSE DRUG REACTION INFORMATION SYSTEM) section so that more and more people become aware of this problem. You can access the link given below:
