Question
Respected Sir, My 3 months old daughter has been operated for bilateral cataract. At present she is using +23 D glasses. Doctor has asked me for contact lenses. I want to know (1)what is the cost of extended use contact lenses.(2)For how many days can they be used? (3) Are extended use contact lenses are safe?
Answer
Will you be able to handle contact lenses in your daughter? If not it would be better to keep her on glasses till she is old enough to handle it herself. Extended wear contact lenses can be worn for 16 hours a day. However there are other lenses that can be worn for a month at a stretch and then discarded. However chances of infection are more with these lenses. You need to consult your opthalmologist what would be best for your daughter and decide accordingly.
