Question
Dear sir/mam, I have a query regarding my pt.shiv 3yrs/male who is not gaining weight or height as per his age. He is only 8kgs and of not appropriate height. He is hale and healthy otherwise and also very active. All his family members are of good height. please suggest me the direction & investigations I need to do in this case. The parents approached me for the very problem. Thank you.
Answer
Check the height velocity and the mid parental height. If it is still less as compared to normal for him, then you may need to investigate him for short stature and do bone age as well as CBC, renal function and liver function tests and thyroid function tests. Depending on these baseline tests, further tests may be needed.
