Question
What drug can one prescribe for a 5 years old HIV positive child who is on TB treatment but has no appetite for food and when forcefully fed, the child vomits all that she ate.
Answer
One has to evaluate the cause of loss of appetite. Is it due to advanced HIV disease or uncontrolled TB. If HIV is advanced or immune suppression is present, antiretroviral therapy would be indicated.
