Question
Why dose of BCG given at birth called as zero dose? Why bone marrow aspiration is not contraindicated in thrombocytopenia?
Answer
BCG given at birth is NOT called as zero dose. The OPV given at birth is called as zero dose not to confuse it with the 1st, 2nd & 3rd doses of OPV given along with the 1st, 2nd and 3rd doses of DPT.

2) BM is not contraindicated in ITP irrespective of the platelet count as the clotting mechanism is working normal and it is to apply pressure externally for 5-10 minutes by which the clotting mechanism will take over and stop bleeding.
