Question
Respected Sir, a stray dog has bitten a boy , who has received two doses of Rabies vaccine. Now this boy while playing bit another with his teeth girl child. The parents of this girl child are worried whether their daughter should receive Anti rabies vaccine. Sir, what is your advice to the parents in this situation. Am I right if i tell them not to give the anti rabies vaccine? As human to human transmission is rare. This boy is receiving vaccine and hence has started developing antibodies. He cannot secrete rabies virus without having other manifestations of the rabies. Please guide me in this situation. thanking you, Dr. Sangeeta.
Answer
Your reasoning of not advising anti Rabies vaccine is correct and the girl is safe.
