Question
A leading brand of chickenpox vaccine turns straw in colour after dilution. The leaflet with the product says it should be discarded if the reconstituted solution is not pink, and /or contains particulate matter. Should this vaccine be given to the vaccine? If given what adverse reactions should be expected?
Answer
The instructions of the product leaflet should be followed in this case and the company should be informed. It is difficult to tell what adverse reactions can happen. The reactions may be simply pyrogenic in nature to even anaphylaxis or the vaccine may be ineffective.
