Question
Can 5 to 6 vaccination be given together at the same time? Recently a 9 month infant expired post BCG vaccination in a private set up.the infant post vaccination after a day had fever and had convulsion and went into coma in another day.what can be the cause?
Answer
It is very unlikely that BCG caused the convulsion. It is commonly seen with DPT.
Also BCG is usually given at birth and not at 9 months. So why was the child given BCG at 9 months? You must rule out other causes of fever and coma such as meningitis, encephalitis and metabolic disorder.
