Question
Can you please enlighten me on 1. Treatment of excessive salivation of a 9 months old child though oral cavity is clinically normal 2. Treatment of excessive sweating of a 2 yrs above child.
Answer
Drooling is generally acceptable in children up to 18-24 months of age. Some children drool while teething. Other children will drool when they have a cold or allergies. Children may drool when their tonsils and/or adenoids are enlarged. If too excessive salivation, atropine may tried as a medication.

Primary hyperhidrosis is seen in adolescence usually. There are few reports regarding transthoracic endoscopic sympathectomy (TES) for this condition in children and adolescents. Botox injections have been used for specific areas with excessive sweating. Also drying agents can be applied topically. Iontophoresis is another hyperhidrosis medication, which works by inducing electrical charges in the sweat glands and shock. Before all that rule out diabetes,CCF and hyperthyroidism.
