In a child with Wilson's disease who is allergic to penicillamine, will zinc zupplementation alone be enough? Hwat is the dose recommended.. how long to give. Thanks

Yes, zinc supplementation may be given for treatment of Wilson's disease. Dose - 50 mg tid p.o. Zinc salts may be substituted as a maintenance therapy after adequate decoppering has been achieved, but may be the treatment of choice in selected asymptomatic Wilson's disease patients.
