CRITERIA for SELECTION
THE CRITERIA BY WHICH SUBMISSIONS WILL BE EVALUATED ARE
(A) MERIT (POTENTIAL TO ADVANCE PRACTICAL KNOWLEDGE AND A CREATIVE APPROACH TO THE PROBLEM),
(B) COMPETENCE (HIGH PROBABILITY OF SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION WITHIN THE PROPOSED TIME FRAME), AND
(C) RELEVANCE. THESE CRITERIA ARE GIVEN EQUAL WEIGHT IN THE REVIEW PROCESS. ADDITIONAL DETAILS ARE BELOW.
It should be noted that the review committees will be judging the proposals based on their scientific, as well as programmatic merit. This means that the research design and the proposed analytical framework will undergo thorough review. While many experimental designs are difficult to implement in programmatic settings, a familiarity with quasi-experimental design methodologies and their proper application should be apparent in the proposal, including description of sample size calculations and assumptions to ensure that the planned operational research will have power to address the research questions posed. |

There will be a two-stage application process with intial brief application followed by full applications for those selected to proceed. The initial application will be reviewed internally by the Pediatric Oncall Research Committee to select the best candidates.
