Query: I have daughter who is aged 2.7yrs who is suffering from very mild Ebstein Anomaly. We are planning to have a second child. Will the case of Ebstein Anomaly repeat again for the second child. Answer: Vast majority of cases of Ebstein anomaly are sporadic and do not recur in next child. Only 5 families in the world have been reported where siblings were affected. In these patients mutation is still not identified. Thus genetic tests may not be available though it may be in research labs. One can do a malformation scan and fetal echocardiography during the antenatal period to see if the baby in the womb is affected.
