NUTRITION QUIZ

A mother brought her 4 years old girl who has to be forced to eat else she can remain hungry throughout the day. Mother wants some “tonic” to improve her appetite.
On further inquiring, it is found, that the child predominantly eats biscuits, wafers, and chocolates throughout the day.

Does this child really have poor appetite? Why is this child not eating regular food? What nutritional problem could this child have?

EXPERT'S OPINION:

Query: My daughter`s date of birth is 15 th December 2004. She is suffering from cough which comes generally 1-2 after she sleeps. it seems to be a dry cough. Further she bites her teeth together and makes a lot crunching voice while sleeping. Some doctors said it could be worms and prescribed albendazole which i have given her 4 months back but she still continues the same biting. and the cough repeats regularly with dry cough and later on changes to productive one. Please advice

Answer: BRUXISM : Teeth grinding is a habit disorder { sleep disorder - night dreams} , Cough : Either posterior nasal drip due to tonsil-adenoid hypertrophy {natural at this age} or Cough variant asthma precipitated by Gastro-esophageal refllux. Clinical , investigations will clinch the diagnosis. NO ROLE OF WORMS.
