Thank you doctor for your prompt reply. First of all I would like to congratulate the entire team behind this site. I am sure, every parent who has posted a query and received a reply feels so goods. Beside, you get an opportunity to read similar cases, which is very good indeed and helps one to relate better. Please keep up the good work. I had a membrane rupture when I was 25 weeks pregnant and immediately the next day, I went into labour and delivered the baby in Kuwait who was 770gms. He stayed in the NICU for 3 months and on the ventilator for a long period of time. Thereafter he stayed in the Special Care Nursing Unit for another 2 months (all throughout in the Incubator) and was finally discharged. During this time he was diagonized with ROP Stage IV and III in both eyes. Laser surgeries and buckling did not help finally we we advised to travel to India - Shankar Netralaya in Chennai for further treatment. He underwent further surgeries in both eyes and thank God he sees well from the Right Eye (short sighted) but the left eye is not very good. He has been advised to wear glasses/lenses in order to correct his vision. He also had Grade I IVH, Hernia (operated last year) NEC (due to which he could not tolerate feeds for a long long period of time) BPD (due to which he has been admitted in Hospitals 3 times). An EGC (done in Aug last year) showed a very very small hole in the heart which the doctor says is negligible. The next EGC is scheduled in August this year. Otherwise he is fine and very hyper. I just read one reply to a query on a hyper child where it is recommeded to rub the palms and put it on the child's temples. Will this help my baby too. As he too is very restless. He has just started walking and says a few words like light, mama, dada, eyes, hot, popeye, yes, ya, etc. I have another son who is now 6 years old but he was a full term baby and is very healthy in terms of weight and suffers from Bronchial Asthma (family history). Thank you so much once again for your prompt reply and I look forward to hear from you. Regards,
