Question Category : Blood in urine
My child has blood in urine over 12 months will this cause a rash on the body or plantars warts on the feet? Will it lower his immune system?
Question Category : Blood in urine
My daughter, currently age 6, has suffered from abdominal pain for a few years and frequently says it is painful to urinate. Her pediatrician prescribed stool softeners. Nov 2001 she urinated blood. Blood tests and ultrasound were normal (per dr). April 2002 she urinated blood again. Her urine was tested and she was given amoxicillin, then augmentin (it was very painful to urinate at this time). Doctor doesn't seem worried by this, but I am concerned with the continual abdominal pain, frequent periods of painful urination and second episode of urinating blood. Should I be worried?
Question Category : Blood in urine
My 24 month old has high fever for 4 1/2 days now. Fever had went up to 104.7 degrees (rectally) but NO other symptoms. I've had her in to the Pediatrician's office 2 times in the last 4 days...no swollen glands, ears are clear (she has tympanostomy tubes), throat looks fine. I brought a urine sample in this morning and there was blood in the urine but nitrates and protein levels were not elevated. It's been sent out for urinalysis but may not get back till Monday. What are possible causes for blood in urine other than UTI and what could be possible causes for the fever (plenty, I know). The pediatrician said they want to see my daughter in the office tomorrow if the fever persists and they may try to draw blood depending on the results of the urinalysis. Past medical history is significant for reflux, chronic otitis media, h/o blood in stool (negative sigmoidoscopy and it subsided after 6 mos.) My pediatrician's office haven't offered any possible causes- probably don't want to worry me but I prefer to have all the info. Any feedback, suggestions, etc are appreciated.
Question Category : Blood in urine
My daughter complained of a backache for a few days. Today, she told her teacher she couldn't get up from her nap. She is three years old, and has been quite healthy. We went to the doctor and they said she had blood in her urine, and no infection yet (they are going to culture her urine to see if anything shows up). We are going to have an ultrasound later this week. What should I be looking for? What will the doctors be looking for? Any help would be great. I am completely clueless.
