Question Category : Diarrhea
My 3 year old daughter has been diagnosed with E.coli because of her bowels getting into her urethra. They are giving her an ultrasound and a VCUG. Is this form of E.coli contagious? My infant son has been vomiting and has had diarrhea, should I be concerned that he might have it now as well?

Child doesn't want to eat and has a lot of gas and takes gasping breaths. He had two bouts of diarrhea and each time gasping occurred. Is this something to be concerned about?

My 6 yr old daughter is having a hard time having a bowel movement. Is seems sticky and hard to clean off when she does have a small amount. She is to the point that she is holding it in. I have given her Prune Juice but a few days later she had uncontrollable diarrhea and then right back to the same sticky stool. I have tried changing her diet and not sure what to do now

Balanced diet for use with elementary and high school students recovering from a bad GI virus. Suggestions besides the CBRAT type format. I work as a school nurse and find that parents often have no clue as to what to feed them when they are recovering. We have had a particularly bad version that has lasted up to 4 days in some children. They have had prolonged stomach cramping post virus and don't tolerate much of anything for a couple of days afterward. I also became victim. Any information that you can offer would be great. Have passed this web site on to the other health nurses. Great site.

Upon returning from a trip to Mexico, my 6 yr. old has been vomiting and has diarrhea. He is sleeping and does not have a temperature. Does this sound like it could be related to ingesting a small amount of water when brushing his teeth or just a normal flu-like virus? Thank you
Question Category : Diarrhea
My 5 year old has had greenish stools for the last few years ( yes, years ). Our pediatrician thought it was due to fluoride in our water or vitamins. We just found out that we do NOT have fluoridated water. We stopped his vitamins several months ago yet his stools remain green in color. I would appreciate your comments.

To Whom It may Concern My 4 month old son has had an amoebic infection resulting in blood in his stool and a diarrhea. The diarrhea recently returned along with severe vomiting and we ended up in hospital. I am now concerned about keeping him sufficiently hydrated. Can you tell me how I tell if he is hydrated? One midwife that I saw recently mentioned elasticity in the skin but I am not sure how to check this. Thanks

We are taking care of our 14 month old grandson this weekend and we note that all of his bowel movements have been soft, but yellow. This is not related to the food he is eating because he is eating normally. He seems a little quieter than usual, but definitely not unhappy or fussy. Is this normal, or should we be concerned?
