Question Category : Diarrhea
My son aged 18 months has been having high fever for the last 4 days along with severe diarrhea (loose motion at least 5-6 times a day). He is being treated for viral of the stomach. He was on anti-diarrhea, paracetamol and a throat medicine for the last 3 days. His condition did not improve. Today his doctor has given him antibiotics. How long does this condition last? Could he be suffering from dengue?
Question Category : Diarrhea
My two year old daughter had a bout of diarrhea last night that was incredibly foul smelling. It smelled like an old outhouse, for lack of a better description. She had some vomiting, but it seems to be secondary to the diarrhea as it was pretty solid vomiting, not the fluidly vomit usually associated with the flu. What could be the cause of this incredibly bad smelling, watery, tan-colored diarrhea?
Question Category : Diarrhea
Our 16 month old daughter experienced a long bout (3-4 months) of diarrhea earlier this year. It resolved itself while it was being investigated by a variety of experts, as did the rectal prolapse that went along with it. After about a week of normal stools, she has developed very pale (tan-colored) stools that seem to have sand in them. (We know it's not sand, but that gives you an idea of the texture.) Otherwise, they are of normal texture, and although they're odd-smelling, they're not nearly as foul as the diarrhea. Are pale, sandy stools normal? She eats very well and drinks about 2 cups of water daily in addition to older babies' formula.

I have a 3 month old who has had diarrhea for about 4 days. He is still taking his normal amount of formula for the day but just has a runny yellow stool and you can hear the gas rumbling in his stomach. What should I do?
Question Category : Diarrhea
My 17 month old son has had a stomach virus for 5 days. He has not vomited in 3 days and is eating very well and taking in fluids well. However, he still has very loose and green stool (sometimes smells very bad), and he wakes up in the night from gas pain. He has been on a bland diet, including some crackers, pasta, and apples & bananas. What can I about his stool and can I start to give him milk again.
Question Category : Diarrhea
What does green diarrhea mean in a one year old--has only had it for two days.
Question Category : Diarrhea
I have a 14 month old son. He had a stomach virus for about a week and symptoms included vomiting and diarrhea, along with sour stomach or I guess cramps. He was eating and drinking just a little less than normal. Now the vomiting and cramping have subsided. The question I need answered he still has diarrhea, it has been 10 days. Is there anything I should give him or not give him?? Thanks Eric Waldman.

Question Category : Diarrhea
My 6 year old is on her 4th bout of diarrhea in the past 3 months. Her stool is liquid with no solids, she has no fever, stomach cramps, no appetite and vomits a couple of times when she first feels sick. It lasts at least a week and has gone on for 2 and 1/2. My doctor says it is just the flu. Could they be wrong?
