Question Category : Eye Problems
While visiting my 2 year old grandson I noticed that he put his chin down and looked out of the tops of his eyes while doing puzzles and watching tv even though it was directly in front of him. His eyes are occasionally light sensitive and for some reason he has no desire to look at book but loves intense things such as puzzles and blocks. His grandfather has myopia. Has anyone else noticed this?

My daughter was born blind in one eye due to the fact nothing grew at the back of her eye. She had cosmetic surgery at 5 years to wire both eyes together. She is now 30 and the sight in her good eye has deteriorated quite a bit according to her optician. Can she have laser surgery on her good eye as Moorfields are reluctant to do it, or is there anything else that can be done? They have advised her to stop driving.

Question Category : Eye Problems
My 5 year old was diagnosed with conjunctivitis and she really hates the process of having the drops put into her eyes. I don't want to waste this $40 tiny bottle of eye drops. When I do get them in she moves or shuts her eyes so tight that it the drops seem to come out. Should I be concerned about that? Also since it is only in one eye do I really have to put it in both? It is such a task to put a drop in one eye.

Question Category : Eye Problems
My son is 1 year and has developed and a problem with his eye in the past couple days. Two days ago I noticed a slight redness on the medial side of the white area of his right eye. He spent the night with grandma and when I picked him up the redness was more severe. There is no drainage, or swelling I would associate with pink eye. Also, the area immediately around the iris looks slightly irregular like there may be a membrane or the texture appears different. To my knowledge there has been no trauma to his eye. Is this an indication of a serious problem or does this sound like pink eye? We also live in SC and the pollen count is very high right now. Does this sound like and allergy problem? I am going to take him to the doctor in the morning. Do you suggest his pediatrician or and ophthalmologist? This is my first child and you could say we a slightly "freaking out"
Question Category : Eye Problems
My grandson is 4 1/2 yrs. old. He takes no medications. He has no diseases. Several weeks ago, he was diagnosed as having conjunctivitis and drops were ordered for him. His symptoms were: redness, itching and drainage (white to yellow color). It has been two weeks now and his eyes are still red. The general MD that he sees examined him yesterday and discontinued the drops and ordered an antibiotic cream for his eyes. In the past 5 days he has developed a white ring around his Iris. The MD scheduled him to see an opthomologist in a week giving no explanation about the cause of the white ring. He has no pre-existing eye problems, health problems or disabilities. He doesn't take any daily medications on a routine basis. His general health is fine. He has had all of his shots etc. What would cause the white ring around the Iris in a four year old?
