Question Category: Limb deformities
My questions are at the bottom of this text I am 22 years of age and I have knocked knees (K legs). I notice that I had k legs when I was between the ages of 10-11, and it really bothered me, even up till now but I never did anything about it. When I was less than 10yrs old, my legs were perfect, my knees and my ankles could touch ( I have pictures as proof), but as I grew older, I just do not know what went wrong. I heard my gradmother had K legs and my cousin told me she had k legs as a child, but still, I do not think that would be the cause of mine. I have seen a doctor about my knees before because I started having pains at the side of my knees where each knocked knees meet. I was told to take an x-ray of my knees. Though I never really followed up with the results, my doctor told me nothing was wrong and recommended me to see an orthopaedic I believe, but I just never followed up. My Questions
1) Since I am 22 years old, is it too late to use orthopaedic appliances such as knee braces etc to correct my knocked knees?
2) If it is too late for orthopaedic appliances, will surgery be an option, and will it be risky?
3) If I have a surgery, will I have problems with my knees as I age?
4) Will I have scars on my knees after the surgery?
5) If there are scars, are the scars forever? If not how long are the scars for? Please feel frr to make any suggestions or recommendations. I will really appreciate a response from someone as soon as possible. Thank you  - Check out the answer
