Question Category : UTI
I know you can't give med advice but please help us even if you can tell us were to go to look up info. Our 3 year old daughter had a Kidney reflux. She took septra for 1 year, when she went back to the specialist the reflux had corrected itself. During that year she continued to have red cells and occasional white cells in her urine, the doter said that should stop now that she was off the septra. That was in June of 2001.Since then she has continued to have red cells98% of the time and white cell at least 85% of the time. She will have all the signs of an infection but when the culture is done it shows no infection. She has at times had severe pain almost always has discomfort. She complains of her lower belly hurting and her lower back. Sometimes it hurts so much she doesn't want to let her pee out.then screams when it does. She will tell us that her vagina hurts. They will do a culture and it usually comes back negative for infection even though the dip test in the doctors office shows red and white cells. Cassidy returns to the specialist on May 31 2002. My husband and I would like to check out what we can on the internet or library so that we can go there knowing what questions to ask and be somewhat informed. One specialist suggested a gynecologist but two other doctors said it there was nothing outside what is wrong is internal. We are feeling very confused as well as frustrated for her. Anyway you can help us would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and in advance for your help.
Question Category : UTI
I have a 7 year old daughter that has suffered from recurrent UTI's since the age of3. The etiology is yet unknown and has undergone multiple of the above mentioned tests. I would appreciate any further input you have on her condition and possible options in treatment or discovery of the problem. They are all e-coli with systemic reactions, including but not limited to fever, headache, cold sores, foul smelling breath, abdominal cramping. She is now on prophylaxis with ceftin and can no longer use bacterium because she has developed a severe allergy. We have been to multiple physicians including a urologist, pediatrician and nephrologist. Would it be a wise choice to include an ID gentleman at this time?
Question Category : UTI
My son has urinary urgency but has no urinary tract infection. His pediatrician has tested his urine and given him laxatives due to stool present in rectum. He still has the urgency. Is there something he may be overlooking?
Question Category : UTI
My stepdaughter has been tested twice in the last month for UTI. There is blood in the urine but no UTI. What could be causing this? She also has frequent problems with yeast infection. Or at least that is what we think it is. She wakes up in the middle of the night itching. It only lasts one night and if we use a suppository on her she gets relief and is able to sleep. She has been given pinworm treatment but wouldn't that be every night? Since I have been around I have noticed that she only has problems if she eats a lot of sweets during the day or close to time for bed.
Question Category : UTI
HI, my daughter who is now 2 has had or not had 3 Urinary tract infections. The first two at about age 5 months, both were confirmed by a bag sample and culture. We then saw a pediatrician and had an ultrasound. The ultrasound results were good, showed no problems and the pediatrician concluded that she did not have a uti. Now my daughter is two and once again showed some signs such as fever, vomiting, stomach pain, blood on diaper and hesitant about voiding, we had another bag sample done and the culture confirmed a uti. She was put on antibiotics followed by another urine sample by bag, again tested positive for uti. Again another round of medicine, this time interrupted by the flu, she had 3 doses of medicine when she started vomiting and complaining of stomach pain. We took her to the hospital. There they did a cbc blood test and catheterized urine sample both indicated that there was no infection. My question is, because she had 3 doses of medicine would it interfere with the results of the above tests? We have an appointment to see a specialist at the end of the month, but I do not want to put her through unneeded tests. I am confused by what I have been told. Any suggestions?

Question Category : UTI
My daughter is 2yrs old. She had an episode of UTI when she was 18mths old. Then around 15 days back she had high fever, for which I had given her amoxycillin, though the fever responded the urine report showed pus cells 4-6/hpf and trace albumin. A rpt urine after stopping antibiotics shows 8-10 pus cells /hpf. She is completely asymptomatic. What should I do?
