I am 22 weeks pregnant and my baby has arpkd. My husband and myself are carriers and didn't know it. We know there is no hope for our baby but are now concerned for our 6 years old son. We are going to have to wait 8 weeks for a scan on his kidneys. I have been reading about this disease and it seems that it can present itself in later childhood. My wife has just had her 20 week scan. She is pregnant with twins following a successful IVF course. Both babies appeared to be in good condition, however one if the babies has been diagnosed with renal pelvic dilatation. His measurement being 6.5mm. The bladder was also seen to be full. My cousin just turned 18 years old. Since the age of 13, she has had 7 kidney stones. Each one of them gets worse and worse. Doctors have done several tests on her, but have been unable to come up with any answers. She also has several other symptoms. She started out with a dark spot (light brown, almost looks like a tan) on her elbow. She is very pale skinned, so this was noticeable right away. Over the years it has spread up her arm, halfway down her back and covers half of her stomach. She has a very low energy level. Craves salty foods and deals with depression and anxiety. Just before one her kidney stone episodes, something stressful has always been able to be traced back, such as finals at school, prom, etc. In researching some of her symptoms, we came across Addison's Disease. I know that this condition is rare, but I would like to know your thoughts and any advice you might be able to give us. Thank you, Check Out the Answer
