Question
My daughter is losing her first tooth at age 6 1/2. It is a lower front tooth. The gum area underneath it and around the area is a darker red in color, especially compared to the normal color of her gums(pink). The tooth is almost out, very loose. She wont pull it she says it hurts. It looks almost infected. Could it be?
Answer
Since the tooth is loose, it will soon fall away. If it is infected, it will cause pain and fever and swelling. Change in color may be due to bleeding inside as the tooth loosens.
