| Question : |
Grandchild 9 yrs old swallowed a quarter. Not sure when this happened, could have been as far back as a year. Will this pass and why hasn't it passed by now. Has been running temp on and off for 3 weeks, has had bladder infection for two weeks.Could temp. be caused from quarter also.

Answer |
If the child has swallowed a quarter a year back, it is very unlikely that it is still in the intestine. It must have passed out in the stools. However, you can take an X ray of the abdomen to see if it is present. (A quarter can be picekd up on the Xray). The urine infection and fever is unlikely due to the ingestion of the coin. |
