Question
Dear Sir / Ms My Daughter 3 Yr old got Nephrotic Syndrome. She is off the prednisolone about a week ago. She was on it for the past 4 months. 2 weeks ago she had a simple cold and a week ago her proteinuria went to 2+ for 2 days and settled to negative for 3 days and now she is back to 2+. Is it ok this to happen or what we can do. I called the nephrologist she said call back if gets to 3+.t
Answer
Sometimes this proteinuria may occur due to infection and subsides once the infection comes under control. 2+ proteinuria is not an indication to start therapy and your nephrologist has correctly asked you to call back if it becomes 3+ or more or she has swelling appearing.
