Question
My 3 year old daughter gets dry skin on her fingers and toes in the spring and the fall. It doesn't bleed and it doesn't seem to cause her any discomfort. It's just alarming to see. Her fingers and toes turn red and then the skin peels away. Lotions don't seem to help. Do you have any idea what this might be from?
Answer
The excessive dryness needs treatment with only moisturizers. Do not use any dehydrating soap. In fact use a soap with moisturizer for the bath and then apply the moisturizer after the bath to ensure that it does into the skin as the skin is slightly wet. This excessive dryness is seasonal.
