My 2 1/2 year old grandson has breath holding spells. Sometimes he is unconscious for up to 15-20 minutes. Everything that I have read says that they usually start breathing again in 1-2 minutes. Does this mean that my grandson may be suffering from something other than breath holding spells? I am very concerned about this. He starts out turning blue then becomes very pale. Please advise me on this. Thank you.

A child may start breathing but may remain unconscious for some time. The only other conditions that need to be ruled out are epilepsy and a heart disease.
