Question
I have a 3mo. old baby girl who has had a lump on the back of her head since birth. The doctors say it is a lymphnode. But if it is, then why is it swollen, and why will it not go away? It has not gotten larger and it moves when touched. Is this a malformation, lymphoma, etc? I'm worried because it will not go away and doctors tell me it is nothing to worry about.
Answer
It is very unusual for a 3 month old to have a lymphnode. What is important is to know the size of the lump? Since it moves when touched, then one needs to rule out a condition called as cephalhematoma- collection of blood on the scalp seen especially at the time of birth and deliveries with forceps.
